CHAKRA TEERTH

Hari Aum!

What emanated from Brahma ji’s Heart?

As per the informative write-up on the ‘The Holy Teerth’ - compiled by Sri Chaitanya ji: ‘Chakra Teerth’ is believed to have been created by the Disc emanating from Lord Brahma ji’s Heart.

What kind of Disc it could be?

Varaha Purana describes it as the ‘Manomaya Chakra’ of Lord Brahma ji, the Creator. This Manomaya Chakra is understood to have fallen at a place (called Naimishaaranya) where mind becomes still and pure. According to legend, the name ‘Naimishaaranya’ has come from ‘Nimisha’ (Yog-nidra-rat Lord Sree Vishnu ever-rooted in Himself). Chakra Teerth is therefore symbolically linked to the stilling of Manomaya chakra, where mental fluctuations dissolve and one tends to become contemplative. This, we ourselves experienced when we visited the place along-with Teerth-Priya Maa ji and Manish ji on 7th April, 2026.

Devotional traditions also associate Chakra Teerth with the ‘Sudarshan Chakra’ of Lord Sree Vishnu (The Sustainer). He, who holds the chakra-svaroop-mann in His hand and therefore also called ‘Chakree’.

‘Rajas’ is the attribute that creates and ‘Sattva’ that which preserves. So, either I create, (like in this pilgrim place, where the water is so deep and unfathomable Chakra Teerth), ‘the Vastness and Depth’ in my own mind and delve deep into that. Or be an instrument in the hands of the ‘Sustainer and naturally gain the experience Divine.

The above in-brief is my learning from ‘Chakra Teerth’.

Hari Aum Maa!

My humble prostrations at the Holy and Lotus feet! Also, I seek forgiveness for any errors I might have committed in my attempt to express this.

At the outset, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Manish ji for the tireless efforts put in to ensure that the Teerth is meaningful and successful for all devotees. My Special compliments for the elaborate booklet on the holy Teerth of Naimishaaranya giving us directions within & without.

The last time I visited Naimishaaranya was way back in 2017. Then it was a “trip”, but this time it was a “Teerth”: with a complete change in my outlook and experience! Initially, due to my health challenges and advice of the doctors, I thought I may not be able to make it, but with Your blessings Maa, I could not believe that on the 6th of April 2026, I was actually standing in the Spiritual heart-land of Hinduism, which might once have been vibrating with the holy chants of 88000 Rishis who meditated collectively, and where each Mantra chanted might have possessed unique vibrations, thereby resonating tremendous energies in the area. Great disciples like Sutji Maharaj, Rishi Shaunak ji, Rishi Jamini ji, Rishi Shuk Dev ji, Rishi Paila ji, and others studied and learnt the sacred Texts here.

Here, Maharishi Ved Vyasji compiled the four Vedas, authored the 18 Puranas and 6 Shastras, and composed the Mahabharat, establishing this as a sacred seat of Vedic knowledge. Here Lord Brahma ji’s divine Chakra landed, marking a safe place for Rishi’s to perform Yajna. Swayambhu Manu and Devi Shatrupa, did Tapasya here for 23,000 years to invoke Lord Sree Vishnu, seeking a divine boon to have Lord Narayan be born as their son, and it is also viewed as the place of origin of mankind where both were blessed by Lord Brahma ji to start life on Earth. Lord Sree Ram is believed to have bathed here after killing Ravan, and conducted the Ashwamedha Yagnya.

Legends hold that it is here that Hanuman ji, carried Bhagwan Sree Ram ji and Sree Laxman ji on His shoulders, after rescuing them from Pataal Lok from Ahiraavan. Here Mata Sati ji’s heart is believed to have fallen, and is called the Shakti Peeth. Bhagwan Krishna’s brother Balramji came here in Dwapar Yug and performed a sacrifice. Goswami Tulsidasji is said to have written the Sree Ram Charitra Manas here.

Naimishaaranya has found it’s mention in the Rig Ved and the Holy Puran-s where it has been mentioned as the most revered pilgrimage place, and Chakra Teerth is situated in it’s heart. It is believed that Lord Brahma ji, in order to provide a safe and divine place for the sages to meditate and study and to protect them from the vagaries of the outer world, released his Chakra emanating from His heart, saying that wherever it fell, that place would be most pious and holy. Here, the Chakra created a powerful, massive, inexhaustible and bottomless water body on the banks of river Gomti. Legends state that Goddess Lalita Devi intervened to control the intense waterflow to it’s current state. It is believed that that the word Naimishaaranya was derived from the word “Nemi” (meaning Cosmic Rim of the Chakra}. This very thought kept me mesmerized that I was actually in the place where the divine Chakra fell, and so I paid my reverence every moment I spent there. The magnanimity of the structure was spell bounding - the magnificent - over 100’ diameter “kund” in the centre, with slow continuously circulating waters around it, gave it a form of ‘Chakra’

In relative stillness, one could feel the presence of a quiet spiritual energy, as if slowing down one’s mind – a sacred pause to reflect!! The simplicity of the place made it feel more authentic and ancient, as it was, perhaps thousands of years back!! It is believed that a dip in this holy pond is believed to wash away sins committed, but unfortunately due to my leg, I could not do so!

In the “Teerth Brochure” there were certain Holy Chants which we were to chant at specific sites, as we would visit them. For Chakrateerth, it was the ‘Brahm Strotam’, dedicated to Lord Sree Brahma ji.

Truly indeed, the Dev Bhoomi of Naimisharanya, is a Tapo Bhoomi, as this is the Holiest of places – one area dotted with several sacred pilgrimage sites, the centre of Vedic learning – the spiritual heart, blessed by all celestial Deities.

Forever at Your Holy and Lotus feet Maa, and always seeking Your blessings!
