SREE HANUMAN GARHI

Hari Aum!

My visit to Hanuman Garhi - a symbol of Devotion and Seva in Naimishaaranya!

Our Teerth to Naimishaaranya was an experience that cannot be expressed in words.

A seed of thought, that was planted in our minds immediately after the completion of Sreemad Bhaagwat Saptah, finally bore fruit and we found ourselves in Naimishaaranya on the 6th of April.

On the 8th morning, with minds full of Bhakti, we formed our way up the stairs to the most sacred Hanuman Garhi Temple.

The mythological significance of this temple is beautifully penned down in Hanuman Ashtakam which we all chanted in glory of the Lord.

This is the place where Sree Hanuman ji appeared carrying Lord Sree Ram ji and Sree Lakshman ji on His shoulders, after killing Ahiravan in Patal Lok. The temple itself was beautiful - its walls adorned with paintings of Sree Hanuman ji.

We waited for some time in the passage just outside the temple and here it was that we all chanted Hanuman Ashtakam, led by Param Pujya Maa! The Hanuman Ashtakam was shared with all of us earlier vide a Teerth Brochure that Manishji had so thoughtfully compiled for us.

We were then led within the main temple and there was a small bend after which we were in sight of the Idol of Sree Hanuman ji. Nothing that we had read or seen could prepare us for that moment. Standing twenty-one feet tall and facing south, the stone Idol adorned with sindoor, inspires immediate awe and reverence from all those who come in front of It. Dwarfed as we were, we could not take our eyes off this unique Form of Hanuman ji. We were also blessed to be given the opportunity to be a part of the Arati.

Chaitanya ji conducted the Arati on behalf of all of us and we were all in a state of devotion and gratitude. Having offered the Arati, bowing down to the Lord and accepting prasad, we all made our way out of the main temple area. Once outside we offered our Pranaams at Maa’s lotus Feet.

The entire experience felt divine and we were all grateful to Sree Guru Parampara that continually shows us the way, guides us on it and blessed us with this Divine Darshan.

Our prostrations at Their Holy Feet,

Grateful to SISS for Its Holy Shelter,

Pranaam!
