Hari Aum!
My Humble Prostrations at The Holy Feet of Revered Sree Guru Parampara, Pujya Maaji and Manish Uncle.
I had the opportunity to participate in Sree Guru Purnima Retreat from July 10th –12th 2025 at the ‘Satyavrat Institute of Subjective Sciences’ in a serene atmosphere, which is situated in Delhi–Noida. It was a joyful, educational, and Spiritually enlightening experience. I want to share my experience through this article because I felt so connected to SISS.
The day began with Arati at Sree Sadguru Sharanam and concluded with a sacred Sree Ishwara Darshan Temple Arati.
I was enchanted by the subtle chants, the ringing of bells and the fresh fragrance of flowers. We worshipped the revered Charan Paaduka of Lord Sree Sada Shiv ji, Lord Sree Vishnu ji, Bhagwaan Sree Veda Vyaas Ji, Sree Adi Shankaracharya Ji, Sree Ram Krishna Paramhansa Ji, Mata Sharda Devi, Swami Vivekananda ji, Sree Tapovan ji Maharaj and Sree Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda Ji, marking it the most auspicious occasion for we students. On the 11th of July, we offered Paad Puja at Maaji’s Lotus Feet.
I was able to comprehend the true significance of having Sree Guru in my life after we studied and recited Sree Guru Ashtakam and Sree Guru Stotram.
Maaji explained the significance of the verses so beautifully! I came to understand that Sree Guru is Someone Who helps us discover Light within, and teaches us the discipline to reach that Light, by imparting knowledge. I feel incredibly honored and thankful to be a part of this institution.
A basic explanation of what I learnt, is that Sree Guru Stotram teaches us that Sree Guru is not just a teacher of academic knowledge, but Someone Who helps us grow from within. Sree Guru is the guiding Light Who removes our inner darkness—our doubts, confusions, and fears. I understood that Sree Guru is one with God. In fact, the verses say that Sree Guru is not only Sree Brahma, Sree Vishnu and Sree Maheshwar—The Creator, Sustainer and Destroyer, but also beyond - The Unmanifest. This made me realize that Sree Guru isn’t an ordinary person, but Someone Who holds compassion and Divine knowledge. I learnt that I must always approach Sree Guru with respect, faith, humility, and gratitude.
Sree Guru Ashtakam was very touching in a different way. It talks about how, even after having everything in life—like wealth, fame, beauty, and power—it means nothing, if we don’t have love and devotion for the Holy Feet of Sree Guru. I found this very powerful because in today’s world, many people chase success, but forget the value of inner peace, truth and the importance of Guru. Sree Guru Ashtakam made me think about how important it is to stay humble and focused on what really matters.
The delectable meals that were prepared by the staff filled with love, during the retreat was enjoyed by all the devotees as Prasad after having been offered to Maa Annapurna Devi, the Divine Consort of Lord Shiv ji. I had the opportunity to offer services in Annakshetra, that taught me, what should be my attitude when I serve the world outside – only love and devotion.
I felt that even little deeds when done with love, become a part of something heavenly as I felt the warmth and enrichment within me.
Celebrating Manish uncle's birthday was a delightful aspect of the retreat. It was jam-packed with activities, songs, punishments, and laughter. It was wonderful to rejoice and just have fun as a family, after all the intense Spiritual teachings.
Another part I loved was the presentation on pilgrimages done by Maaji, Manish uncle, and other devotees. The photos and stories of breathtaking temples in the Himalayas, quiet ashrams, and sacred rivers left us only asking for more. Each journey looked like a Spiritual adventure and very inspiring. One day, I hope I can go on one of these pilgrimages too.
And how can I overlook the retreat's cutest participant, Adi! the most adorable devotee ever! He was constantly present, occasionally playing with the kids and other times sitting quietly during the conversations. Without even attempting, he lifted everyone's spirits.
This retreat taught me that Spirituality isn’t something only for adults. It is something we can feel and live at any age. The love of Sree Guru, the warmth of the people around and the joy in service - all touched my heart! I am so thankful to have been a part of this and I already can’t wait for the next retreat!
Thank You Manish Uncle for always supporting and guiding me in every way possible and for once again making this retreat happen!
