Hari Aum!

My Pranaam at the Lotus Feet of Guru Maa.

Our last Online Call Talk with Guru Maa, on the topic ‘Life - A Maze or An Amaze’, describing about the state of today's man, Maa said we are caught up in the world of objects and are unable to find out the way to come out from this “maze”. The world of objects is a maze and our Spiritual experiences are an “amaze”.

To explain this, Maa gave us an example from Sreemad Bhaagwat Mahapuran. Sree Kardam Rishi, son of Brahma ji, on His father's insistence to have children, goes to do penance on the banks of river Saraswati. He used His patience as His power to carry out that penance for over ten thousand years. Swayambhu Manu, the king of the entire Earth, had a lovely daughter – Mata Devhuti, and he expressed his desire to give his daughter’s hand in marriage to Sree Kardam Rishi. Sree Kardam Rishi gave His consent, but with a condition that as soon as a son will be born, He shall retire to the forest.

Later, Mata Devhuti and Sree Kardam Rishi were wedded as per all Vedic customs. Sree Kardam Rishi with his siddhi created a flying palace. They travelled not only all over the earth, but even beyond! They were soon blessed with nine lovely girls. The nine virtuous daughters were named Kala, Anasuya, Shraddha, Havirbhu, Gati, Kriya, Khyati, Arundhati, and Shanti. Later, Sree Hari Vishnu ji Himself entered Devhuti's womb to fulfill her desire of wanting a pious son.

Soon, Sree Hari incarnated, and brought immense joy to His parents – mother Mata Devhuti and father Sree Kardam Rishi. They named Him Kapil. Soon after, Kardam muni, (as per His wish expressed earlier) peacefully departed for the forest for further penance. Kapil ji had promised to teach His mother Devhuti Mata ‘Sankhya’ philosophy. Meanwhile Sree Kardam Rishi continued penance in solitude till His thoughts resembled a calm ocean. He continued to be calm in that spot until He attained the abode of the Supreme.

Devhuti Mata remained on the banks of Bindu Sarovar with Her son after Her husband left. For Her complete satisfaction, She asked Her son to impart imperishable knowledge. She asked Him to rescue Her from the sea of delusion and ignorance. This story tells us that while creating our world we have to be very careful. Spiritual aspect cannot be missed out while going through all the pleasures of life.

Sreemad Bhagwad Geeta, chapter 2 verses 62,63 explains the ‘Ladder of Fall’,

We destroy ourselves in the maze of life. The only way to come out of this is Adyaatmik saadhna leading to Adyaatmik Anubhav. If we don't get associated with the Divine, then we will be in the clutches of un-divine. We have a rich treasure of holy Scriptures. We can hold on to the teachings of great Rishis. Our sages and saints have complied the great learnings and have simplified for us to understand. Once we get into this amazing journey, we will have no reasons to fall and get into the worldly maze.

In chapter 2, verse 29 of Sreemad Bhagwad Geeta, Lord says –

Man awakened to this Self's glory is God, God forgetful of His own glory is the deluded man. Knowledge makes a man realise that he is a soul with body, but in his ignorance, he thinks that he is a body with soul.

Life is what we make - maze or amaze.

My humble gratitude to Maa for the valuable teachings and to Manish ji for this amazing Online Call Talk.

Hari Aum.
