Humble Pranam and prostration at Maaji’s Lotus Feet and Guru Parampara.!!
We all had a magnificent Call Talk session of Maaji on 2nd April on the occasion of Gudi Padwa ie 1st day of Chaitra, where Maaji vividly elucidated the glory of Mother Goddess as per Sree Markendeya Purana . The talk was so informative that it was an eye opener for all of us on the sacred scriptures and specially for all seekers who observe Navaratra puja. Maaji explained to us the glory of Mother Goddess to show us the whole process of how to come out of our strong association with our attitude which we have developed due to being an ego centric individual and how to come out of it and there after stay in Beatitude. We are so attached to our materialistic attractions that we see nothing but this falsehood which has been imposed by ourself upon this Truth and the true nature of ours is covered completely.
The glory of Mother Goddess is to be found in Markendeya Purana, which is popularly known as Durga Saptashati consisting of 700 verses arranged in 13 chapters. In these texts the glory is explained by Medha Rishi to a King known as Surata and a vaishya known as Samadhi. King Surata was ruling his kingdom along with his ministers, friends and family members peacefully. When he lost a battle, and his kingdom thus, his own people betrayed him. Being dejected by his own people he went to the forest where he found a vaishya called Samadhi who also dejected by his family and friends and had left his house in search of peace. Both, King Surata and Samadhi went to Medha Rishi Ashram in the forest for seeking his blessings and guidance in their distress time. Medha Rishi after listening to them explained the glory of Mother Goddess and advised both to pray and get Her blessings. So, they did. Since king Surata could not give up his attachment to the kingdom, he prayed for the same, and also one more rule in his next life as well. Mother Goddess blesses him with the same. However Samadhi, when Mother Goddess asked him to seek for a boon , requested for liberation and got liberated.
While elaborating Sree Durga Saptasati, Maaji summarised the three basic sections of the text i.e. Pratham Charita, where the demons Madhu and Kaitabha got annihilated; in Madhyam Charita, the demon Mahishasura was killed; in Uttar Charita the two demons Shumbha and Nishumbha got annihilated by Mother Goddess. Significance of these three sections were vividly linked to Karma Yog, Upasana Yog & Gyana Yog.
Madhu & Kaitabha vadh, signifies Karma Yog sadhana. Madhu Kaithaba demons signify the insect like tendencies we have for sucking honey from the worldly objects which is our material attraction. One needs pray / do japa, which is Karma Yog sadhana, by which with the grace of Mother Goddesses one will be able to annihilate the worldly attractions and go forward in one’s journey towards gaining the Beatitude.
Mahishasura signifies the evil and animalistic nature in us. By Upasana Yog sadhana, our mind gets trained to be worshipful to shed the animalistic nature and ultimately annihilate the animalistic and demonic nature of one’s mind which represents Mahishasura.
The” I” ness in us represents Shumbha and the “my’’ ness in us represents the demon Nishumbha. Through the knowledge of scriptures and getting them imbibed in ourselves this “my” ness and “I” ness demons at one point of time will get completely destroyed and then we will find Beatitude.
So, the best that can happen by proper worship of Mother Goddess by proper understanding and right intention is that it can happen in this life itself.
To shed one’s attitude one has to embrace the Beatitude the way our Rishis have taught and thereafter shedding attitude will be automatic. It will not take much time if one embraces properly his True Self the divine within in the ways that the Rishis and the Guru Parampara have explained, lived and told us.
So may the Mother Goddess bless us all, the way She blessed Surata and Samadhi if only we do our part in the Karma, Upasana and Gyaan the way Suratha and Samadhi could do. May we worship Maha Kali Maha Lakshmi, Maha Saraswati and may we be able to open up to the divine channels to reach our beatitude and will be able to remain well established in our True Self.
ॐ जयंती मंगला काली भद्रकाली कपालिनी,
दुर्गा क्षमा शिवा धात्री स्वाहा स्वधा नमोऽस्तुते ।
We seek for forgiveness from the Mother Goddess.
