A Sacred Pilgrimage to Haridwar

Shaila
Chh. Sambhaji Nagar (Maharashtra)

Some journeys cannot be measured in miles — they are felt in the depths of one’s being. My recent pilgrimage to Haridwar with Mata ji, Manish ji and fellow seekers was one such divine experience, where every moment seemed to dissolve into the flow of Grace.

I have taken a dip in Holy Ganga ji many times before, yet this time was unlike any other. Words fall short to describe the stillness, devotion, and surrender that enveloped me. Mata ji guided us at every step before we took the holy dip — from invoking prayers to seeking Sree Ganga Mata’s permission — something I had never done earlier. That single act of reverence transformed the experience completely! With right mental attitude, heartfelt prayers, deep gratitude towards my ancestors, and the constant rhythm of Kirtan resonating in the air, the holy dip became a sacred offering rather than a mere ritual. In the past, reverence had come and gone like a fleeting wave — but this time, it stayed… soaking my being in an unspoken serenity.

As evening descended, we attended Sree Ganga Aarti, the river shimmering in golden hues of countless lamps. The chants, the flame, and the gentle breeze together seemed to whisper blessings. Later, as we shared simple street chaat and laughter, there was a beautiful sense of togetherness — light-hearted, yet deeply sacred.

Mata ji’s explanation of Guru Dakshina and Brahmin Dakshina added yet another layer of depth to the day. Her words illuminated, why offering back with gratitude and humility completes the circle of receiving divine wisdom. As Maa blessed us after a long and Spiritually charged day, it felt as though Sree Ganga Maa Herself flowed through Her — showering purity, love, and divine guidance upon us all.

This pilgrimage was not just a journey to a holy city; it was a journey inward — into gratitude, devotion, and surrender.

I feel blessed and privileged to be a part of this Teerth yatra. Words fall short to express the gratitude towards Manish ji, who plans everything so meticulously keeping each one's needs in mind.

With gratitude and in anticipation of many more such Yatras!

Hari Aum!
