SREE DADHEECHI KUND

Hari Aum!

My Pranaams to HH Maa ji and Manish ji.

I feel blessed to have visited Naimishaaranya, which is one of the oldest and most sacred pilgrimage sites in India with HH Maa ji, Manish ji and my co-seekers. This was my first Holy Teerth with Pujaneeya Maa ji. It was a blissful experience with lot of learnings.

We at SISS, had the fortune of listening to Sreemad Bhaagwatam by HH Maa ji at Chh. Sambhaji Nagar in February 2025. As a part of Sreemad Bhaagwatam, the visit to Naimishaaranya was planned to pay our respects to the great Rishis, few of them to name - Sree Vyaas ji, Sree Sut ji, Sree Dadheechi ji and more…

On the first day of Holy Teerth, we visited

1)Sree Lalita Devi Mata Mandir – Shakti Peeth

2)Rishi Sut ji Ki Gaddi

3)Chakrateerth

4)Vyas ji ki Gaddi

On the second day of Holy Teerth, we visited

1)Sree Hanuman Ji Garhi

2)Dadheechi Kund

Dadheechi Kund:

As we reached Dadheechi Kund, we were briefed about the history by the head priest, at the entrance of the temple. The site is known as the place where Rishi Dadheechi gave up His bones to help the Gods create a weapon to defeat the demon Vritrasur. Lord Indradev ji had requested Rishi Dadheechi ji, who was just 27 years old, to give His bones (jeevit asthiyan), so that a ‘Vajr’ could be created to kill the demon Vritrasur. Rishi Dadheechi ji wished to visit all the holy rivers before making the sacrifice. So, the water of all the holy rivers was brought in by Lords, and Dadheechi Kund was created. As the river waters were mixed in the Dadheechi Kund, the place where Dadheechi Kund is located is known as ‘Misrikh’.

Sree Dadheechi Kund’s name is mentioned in Vaman Puran, Skandh Puran, Mahabharat and Rig Veda.

After learning about Sree Dadheechi Kund and its history, we all had the fortune of touching and sprinkling the holy water of Dadheechi Kund on ourselves. We also offered water from Dadheechi kund on Lord Vishnu ji’s Feet. We then went ahead inside temple premises to bow down before Rishi Dadheechi at “Darshan Bhagwan Dadheechi” temple. We visited Mata Ashtbhuja temple – Mother of Rishi Dadheechi, Rishi Atharva temple – Father of Rishi Dadheechi and Maharshi Dadheechi Asthi Daan Sthal to pay our respects and seek blessings.

We all chanted “Dadheechi-kritam Shiv Stotram” at the temple premises.

This Teerth yatra was a soulful and fulfilling experience.

I would like to sincerely thank Manish ji for his guidance and for arranging such a wonderful Teerth. It was very well-coordinated and well organized. The guide book compiled and provided by Manish ji was self-explanatory and briefed us about Naimishaaranya in advance.

My koti-koti Dhanyawad and Pranaams to my Guru Maa ji and Manish ji.

Humble Prostrations at The Holy Feet of Guru Maa!

I am deeply grateful to have been blessed with the opportunity to embark on the Holy pilgrimage to Naimishaaranya with Guru Maa. The Teerth became meaningful and purposeful with the Holy presence of Maa and the guidance of Manish ji. Receiving the detailed guide book, well in advance of our journey was helpful as it gave profound insight into the significance of each Teerth sthal and included specific chanting for each holy darshans, allowing oneself to engage with more focus and devotion.

On the 8th morning of the April month, we visited Rishi Dadheechi Kund. The Pandit ji at the Temple shared the profound story of Rishi Dadheechi ji.

With the Blessings of Maa, i offered my prostrations and the Holy water on the Sree Vishnu Pad. Bhagwaan Sree Vishnu ji here guided the Devta-s to seek the weapon from Rishi Dadheechi ji to defeat the demon Vritrasur. As the story goes, in order to kill the demon Vritrasur, Sree Indra Dev prayed to Rishi Dadheechi to give His bones. The great Rishi agreed with a condition to visit all the Holy rivers and pilgrimages. The Devta-s brought all the Holy rivers together here to form the Kund. Thereafter, Rishi Dadheechi ji gave up His bones from which a weapon, the ‘Vajr’ was created.

As we proceeded inside the Temple, there was on one side the story of the ‘Gandiva’ Bow, the Divine weapon created by the bones of Rishi Dadheechi ji which was given to Sree Agni Dev. Later in Dvaapar Yug, Sree Agni Dev gave the weapon to Arjun ji in the Khaandav forest. And on the other side, the Saranga Bow, also was created by the bones of Rishi Dadheechi ji, which was given to Lord Sree Vishnu ji for the protection of the world. Hence, Bhagwaan Vishnu ji is also known as ‘Sarangi’.

Going around the Temple with the darshan of the revered Rishi-s, Maharshi Atharva, Maharshi Pippalaad; it felt like a complete silence within.

I stopped to gaze at the sight of the ancient Vriksh which stood as a witness to many stories passed by and many stories held then and going to be held in future.

Later, we all gathered to sit inside the Temple arena, at the Holy Feet of Guru Maa, wearing the yellow anga-vastras, signifying oneness for me, to listen to the holy words of wisdom.

Maa, emphasized on the importance and the greatness of the revered Rishi-s and that we must always be humble and full of gratitude towards Them. Even the Devta-s had to come to Their Feet for Their salvage. How blessed are we to be at the holy Feet of Sree Guru Parampara! Both Asuri and Daivi vrittis are in me. The Vajr of ‘Bhakti’ can strike my attachment and lead me towards Immortality. By consciously enhancing the virtues within me, I can strengthen my Daivi vritti which can be only possible by the guidance of our Revered Rishi-s, as understood by me.

In the end we all chanted with Maa, the Dadheechi-kritam Shiv Stotram. I carried back with me some beautiful experiences and lots of learning to ponder upon. With the Blessings and under the complete guidance of Guru Maa, I could tread the journey to Naimishaaranya.

Humble Gratitude at the Holy Feet!

Hari Aum!

My visit to Sree Dadheechi Kund felt unexpectedly grounding and personal. The sight itself was beautiful—the still water body, the surroundings, and the overall atmosphere made it easy to pause and take everything in.

What really stood out was how the head priest of the temple explained the history; he spoke with such clarity and feeling that it felt less like a lesson and more like a story come alive. Standing there, it genuinely felt like the past was still present in that space, which made the experience much more meaningful.
