“Triode is a thermionic vacuum tube having three electrodes; fluctuations of the charge on the grid control the flow from cathode to anode which makes amplification possible. A cathode can either be a negatively charged electrode that is the source of electrons entering an electrical device, or, it can be a positively charged terminal of a storage battery that supplies current. Exactly the opposite of cathode electrode is anode electrode; and their combination makes the equipment function the way it should.”
The above discussion was going on in a class for students of Engineering. They were listening with interest and sufficient understanding. It is presumed that one day they will become qualified Engineers and the knowledge thus gained will be applied by them in the world to earn a livelihood.
Now, every action of ours is the amplified version of either our negative or positive thought. Causal body which is the storehouse of desires, gives expression to subtle and gross bodies comprising of ‘mind-intellect’ and the ‘body’ respectively. Mind-intellect equipment is enlightened by and the body is enlivened by the Vital-air (Prana). Since the same power of Vital-air propel both, therefore when the subtle body gets disturbed, the gross body too gets disturbed. Mind-intellect equipment is the terminal from where thoughts emerge and ego is the Operator of the terminal. Thoughts guide the body to act in a particular manner. So, each action is the outcome of either charged by a positive or a negative thought. That thought which is conducive to the Supreme Self (Atman), is considered positive and that which is contrary to It, is considered negative.
The above discussion and similar ones go on in every class of Vedanta philosophy at SISS. Vedanta has the foundation of science and engineering involving physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, logic, economics, civics, statistics and so on. In other words, all these subjects mentioned here are to be theoretically understood and practically applied in life by individuals with the underlying base of spirituality, for the purpose of self-evolution. When individuals thus carve out their lives, there is peace, prosperity and happiness in the world, born out of collective goodness.
This is how the human world is supposed to function. The Seers and the Wise Men are the great Subjective Scientists who show the path of ‘action’ (Karmayoga) born out of positively channelized thoughts. They explain us why should we not live a life motivated by ‘reactions’ (Pratikriya), as reactions lead to ‘repercussions’ which inflict pain, grief and sorrow. Also, they discourage non-performance of action which is highly detrimental to both, the non-performer himself as well as to the world.
Ignorance deludes the man & delusion propels desires; Knowledge awakens the man & awakening propels Divine collective goodness. ‘Tattwa Bodh’ is a textbook of spiritual terminology (Prakaran Granth) by Sree Adi Shankarachaya. A Spiritual Retreat on Tattwa Bodh is organized at SISS for better understanding of the scriptures and to get inspired by such elevating thoughts. Register yourself for it at your earliest!
