WHAT CAUSES FEAR?

Aastha (Chh. Sambhaji Nagar):

“Hari Aum Manish ji, can you kindly explain, what causes fear? How can we liberate ourselves from fear?”

Manish ji’s reply: [as understood by me]

“Fear - more is imagined than genuine! Source is i-ness or mine-ness. It is my car that i am fearful of losing or its damage. If it is not mine, it doesn’t bother me. If i think and i believ – “this is mine and this is not mine”, that's the source of fear. When it becomes mine I'll be fearful.
The reason of fear is, i have enveloped myself with the false. For eg:- in a stage show, I am in a role where i am facing death and i have to be fearful. But once the act is over and sets are packed up and we all are leave for the day, the fear of death may still continue to be there, why? The problem is 'wrong imagination' each individual is imagining in an already imagined world. And the outcome of that imagination is my car, my house, my factory, my relatives. The actor has not only imagined, but also assumed that death is standing in front of him. When the director ordered ‘cut’ everyone else got into their normal roles and routine except for the one who remained in his false belief.
Hence, who is to blame? Fear is imagined. It can be overcome with Divinity. When the Director Sree Ishwar ordered ‘cut’, through the mouth of Sree Guru, why don't we hear? The materialistic power of Maya is so enchanting that one does not want to leave it even at the cost of remaining in fear lives after lives.
We as Spiritual aspirants must diligently continue on the Spiritual path because the world is already alluring with all its variegated enchantments, If we have an object made of plastic, we want glass, then we want it to be of steel, then we want silver, then gold, then diamond, then from Mars and the want goes on endlessly. This is imagination. The instrument called mind has tremendous potential to imagine and it is this potential that has given rise to forms and the circumstances that we see now whether we like it or not. If it continues in the same way, one can again imagine where one will be in the coming lives making fear inevitable! Hence stop the false imagination.”
