Humble Prostrations at the Lotus Feet of Pujya Guru Maa.
(My understanding of a story narrated by Manish ji)
Once upon a time, in a kingdom there lived a king and a queen. Both led a pious life. The queen was an ardent devotee of Lord Sree Ram and would always insist upon the king too, to chant Sree Ram ji’s name, perform Pujas, Yagnyas etc. But he would not do so. The queen was very sad as the king would never take the Lord’s name.
One day the queen called the minister and asked him to decorate the kingdom for upcoming festivities and make arrangements for Kirtan, Bhajan throughout the day. When asked for the reason to do so she didn’t answer. Her command was followed. When the king came to know of the same, he asked the ministers the reason for celebration, but, because even they dint have an answer to it, he asked the queen. She did not answer at first, but upon his insistence told him that despite her ardent efforts in trying to make him do Puja or chant Lord’s name, he never did. But somehow, just the night before, in his sleep he had repeatedly chanted Lord Sree Ram ji’s name that made her so happy and hence the celebrations!
The king was in a dilemma that how did this happen and said, “Alas! The treasure has been opened” and he fell down and died…
Why?
The Moral of the story as per my limited understanding -
Spirituality should be practiced internally. Externally is ok, as long as it is firm and deep rooted. If not, then it just becomes a show, a pretence. Inner progress is the result if the practice is true, honest, deep rooted.
The king was ruling very piously. Though he never showed it externally, he was always prayerful in his core. The name of the Lord was the driving force for him to rule the kingdom in a righteous manner. And when his secret was revealed the essence of his success was gone. Hence, he gave up his physical body to merge with the Lord.
