My Guru, My Guide

Nidhi

Humble Pranaam at the Holy Feet of Maa ji.

The “Affable Guide to Self-discovery” is the rich heritage of Sree Guru Parampara. The guide has to be kind, loving, caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, and to come under the shelter of the Realised soul - it requires immense grace of the Divine on the student.

The source of Sree Guru Parampara starts with Lord Sada Shiv, the very first, innermost Guru Tattwa in us. The Auspiciousness in all of us is addressed as Sada Shiv. The utmost compassion for the whole of creation was expressed by Lord Sada Shiv, when He accepted the ‘halahal’ (poison) which came out during the Samudra Manthan. Lord accepts the poison but still remains कर्पूरगौरम् - as pure as white burning camphor and करूणावतारम् - compassion personified.

Next is Jagadguru Sree Krishna, the One who gave us Sreemad Bhagawad Geeta which is the very source of all wisdom to lead a true human life. By reading Sreemad Bhagawad Geeta, we as disciples get the wonderful gift from God Himself. There are innumerable anecdotes where Lord Krishna’s compassion and kindness are expressed. Like the one where Lord pardoned Shishupal 100 times on the request of his mother Shrutshubha.

Now to Sree Ved Vyas ji, the Ansh Avatar of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiv put together. His compassion is unimaginable. To fulfil the wish of Mata Satyawati, He came out of Samadhi to bless her with three grandchildren— Dhritrashtra ji, Pandu ji and Vidur ji. Whole of Mahabharat is woven around this Kuru dynasty, which was advised, nurtured and blessed by Sree Ved Vyas Ji. He compiled the Mahabharat for generations of human beings to get showered with knowledge of Advait philosophy. He also authored 18 Puranas and Brahmasutras to educate humanity to practice Oneness in this world of multiplicity.

After several lineages of Sree Gurus, we come to Sree Gaudapadacharya Ji, who has authored Kaarika on Mandukya Upanishad. In the 12 mantras of Mandukya Upanishad, we find one Mahavakya — 'Ayam Aatma Brahm'

Sree Gaudapadacharya ji had a brilliant disciple Sree Govind Bhagawadpadacharya ji, who is the Guru of Sree Adi Shankaracharya Ji. He instructed Sree Adi Shankaracharya Ji to write Bhashyas on Vedic texts like Brahmasutras, Upanishads and spread the philosophy of Advait all over Bharat. Sree Adi Shankaracharya Ji also wrote Bhashyas on ten Major Upanishads and Sreemad Bhagawad Geeta. This is Guru - Shishya Parampara where the shishya doubtlessly accepts the command of the Guru. As the Yug changed from Dwaapar to Kaliyug, प्रस्थान त्रय came as a blessing for mankind. Sree Adi Shankaracharya Ji relived as Sree Swami Tapovan Maharaj Ji – my humble prostrations to our Param Gurudev! Sree Swami Tapovan Maharaj Ji accepted Gurudev and blessed Him with knowledge of Self-discovery to spread the message far and wide. Pujya Gurudev accepted Maa Purnananda Ji as His disciple, and now with the blessings of Sree Guru Parampara, Maa Ji guides us on the path to Self-discovery.

As a disciple it is important for me to come to the place of the Sadgurus and learn under Their guidance and shelter. I can listen, learn, understand and practice only by being at the Holy Feet of Sree Guru Parampara. As Chaitanya ji said - one becomes a true disciple only when the Guru accepts him/her as a disciple.

Dhanyavaad Chaitanya ji for such enlightening Call Talks every month. Humble Prostrations at the Holy Altar of Sree Guru Parampara.

Hari Aum!
