Humble Prostrations at The Holy Feet of Maa!

It was our morning study circle class on a Sunday. It was also Deepaawali, and we were blessed to be at SISS from early morning hours on that auspicious day. As the festive mood was in the air there was a feeling of joy in my heart.

When Lord Sree Ram returned to His Kingdom Ayodhya after 14 years of living in the forests, the people of Ayodhya celebrated by lighting lamps to welcome Lord Sree Ram. The victory of Bhagwaan Sree Ram signifies the victory of Ishwaratva. Ravan is Ahankaar. Ahankaar stands as an obstacle on our path of spiritual progress. Actually, it is darkness (ignorance) and hence has no existence. It can be dispelled only by the light of knowledge.

Lighting of lamp signifies auspiciousness, good health, and prosperity which can only come when the inner enemy in the form of six obstacles is destroyed within us (kaam, krodh, lobh, moh, madh, matsarya). To elevate ourselves from our lower tendencies and to identify with Ishwaratva we performed shodashaupachaar Manas Puja of Bhagwaan Sree Vishnu at the Holy Altar at SISS, under the guidance of Maa. We cannot progress without the blessings of a Guru.

The traditional set of meal was offered as Naivedyam to Bhagwaan and taken by all of us as Prasaad. Few eco-friendly crackers were burnt which signifies casting away of negativities in and around us.

We felt Blessed to be at SISS on the auspicious occasion of Deepavali.
With Gratitude at the Holy Feet of Maa!
