Invincible Shastras

Hari Aum !

Chennai was awaiting for a Satsang with Maaji on the weekend of the 3rd and 4th August. By God’s Grace the weather was beautiful. We were eager to welcome Maaji on Saturday. We had a good time with her discussing on various topics and issues. We arose our doubts on the topic Fear. Maaji enlightened us by making us understand that Fear is only our imagination. When the world itself is an imagination then why should we be afraid, because it is we who imagine about things which may or may not happen. The real happening will be based on our efforts and God’s grace. When we have put our efforts then we need not fear about results as it will be God’s grace. We fear for many things like money, status and death. We have to come out of our imagination to face the truth and understand that there is no point in being afraid about anything including death.

The discourses on the topics ‘Invincible Values’ and ‘Shastras in daily life’ took place in Mylapore at Sri Sankara Gurukulam. One of the greatest invincible value that is very often neglected is we fail to realize that the body which is the manifestation of the Self is being disrespected by our act of sitting on floor or by the wrong postures which often seem comfortable for the body but disrespectful towards the Self. This statement has profound understanding of “Invincible Values”, whatever may be the action we take up, it should be done with awareness about the presence of Self which perfects the action. Even the words we use during adverse condition should reflect the invincible values we practice. Gandhari is one example of person leading life with invincible values. She blessed Duryodhana “Let Dharma Prevail”, not “Vijayaee Bhava”. She knows that Dharma only will or should win.

Our earlier conversation of Fear continued in her discourse which helped us get a deeper understanding of the human mind and the way it drifts away into the world of Maya.

This led to the discussion of Vairagya. When we have Vairagya there is no question of fear in the mind. We need to have Vairagya to follow the invincible values. The fearless person will follow only the invincible values in every action he performs.

The Shastras are the works of the great saints of the past who have devoted centuries cultivating and developing the Hindu philosophy and science. Maa Purnanandaji explained these vast concepts in simple terms. Our daily activity, Prayer as first thing in the morning gives meaning, everything that happens today will be by God and we surrender to him.

When we look back at these two days, we could not recollect anything else other than being with Maaji. Maaji prevailed in our mind as if we were in meditation. Maaji’s presence itself elevates us to be a good person. Our Guru’s grace will prevail upon us making our action and thought pure.

Sree Gurubhyo namah.
