The external objects do not have any meaning unless our mind gives meaning to them. The mind feels the cold and heat, pleasure and pain. Bhagwan tells us not to identify with our mind. We are beyond our mind and senses. The external world is impermanent by its very nature. Not identifying with these changes is the challenge for a seeker.
